Lisa Russell-Mina is the Director of Major Gifts for the Society for Science and the Public in Washington, D.C., helping the advancement team raise significant gifts as part of the Society's centennial celebration in 2021.  Previously, she was Senior Director of Development at the Association of American Colleges & Universities from 2011-2017. From 1995 to 2011, she was at the Johns Hopkins Institutions in three roles – Director of Development Research; Founding Director of Institutional Donor Relations; and a major gifts officer at the School of Nursing.

Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Russell-Mina served in advancement roles at Bucknell University, Saint Mary’s College (Indiana), and Princeton University. She was also a preceptor in the Department of Religion at Princeton, and was Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Towson University, where she taught Philosophy 101 for three years.

A founding member of the Association of Change Management Professionals, Russell-Mina has led workshops at CASE and AFP conferences, and has been a pro bono advancement consultant for three small non-profits in the arts. 

She has a B.A. in the History of Ideas from Williams College, and an M.A. from the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.
